What to look for in a TWhat to look for in a T![]() ![]() ![]() Every man has a T in his wardrobe, every man should have great Ts in his wardrobe. They are a versatile fashion statement that can describe a lot about the man who wears it. So you want to know that what you are wearing and buying is saying what you want it to say about you. 1. FabricLook out for fabric that is going to last. To last you want it to be able to breathe so Ts with high percentage of nylon, lycra or polyester will sweat and over time begin to smell. So look out for tees that have 90% or more Cotton. If they have lycra in them, it should be no more than 10%. The lycra can make a T fit amazing, the lycra will also mean it will not need ironing quite as much, the addition of lycra can make a T last longer and means the T will keep its shape. If you do want to wear a T that fits closer to the body, the lycra will help this. Look out to for Ts that are made out of organic cotton, bamboo, merino or Modal which are fabrics that are better for the environment and help the body breathe, also last forever too.Look out for the construction in the weave of the fabric, with firm round loops and not stretched or pulled weave. This will mean it won't lose it shaped when washed. 2. FitThe garment should be cut to flatter the body and last and keep its shape. The garment should be cut with the grain of the fabric. Look out for how the T fits around the neck, a crew neck collar should sit comfortably and not against the throat. Look out for how the sleeves are cut. They should be a size that flatters the arm and not let the arm get lost inside. The fit should ease and not twist around the armhole. Another thing to look out for is the length. Almost all Ts will shrink a little so buy one that has more length so you can be safe incase you put it in the dryer and it shrinks a touch.3. CareAll Ts are prone to shrink one or two percent. It is important to always check the care labels as every T has its own care instructions. Ts with a lycra/cotton blend tend to shrink less than a 100% cotton T. So if unsure of the finish of a T always buy one that is slighty larger to allow for this. A lot of Ts today have been pre-washed and pre-shrunk so that when you buy you are buying true size. However know that even if this is the case, it can still move around one or two percent, this is not much, and will be hardly noticed. Always check the care label and ask questions if you are unsure. |
